Thanks for responding..If you don't mind my asking, how old is your son and was there a reason they suggested CAPP to you? Did your DC have any repetitive behaviors or other issues that made you choose CAPP? I spoke again with I&T about CAPP but was told that it is only for children with more delays..was more or less brushed off when I asked about CAPP..Can I insist on touring that progam also when they think my child doesn't need it? How would I know what my DC needs without touring all available classes..
Hi there. Request a CAPP tour, just as you are doing a PEP tour. It is not a secret, they have tours on a consistent basis. Don't let I&T railroad you against your will. You may find that CAPP isn't suitable for your child, which is fine, but at least you were able to make that decision. My son was two when we visited the program. He was diagnosed with classical autism. CAPP was suggested to us in the same way that PEP was suggested to us- what that means is we as parents were able to make the decision based on what we thought was best. All I can say is that when we visited the various PEP classes, it was obvious that none of them were a good fit for my child- when we visited CAPP, it was immediately clear to me that this was the best option. You really need to see the programs to make a decision. Be firm on wanting to see a CAPP classroom. Here is a youtube video of what I think was the very first CAPP classroom. It is about six years old now, but still gives a good idea of what the program is like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-o7UIBTuaY
