The obsession with Russian women sounds like a fetish thing.  I dated a guy who seemed to have an obsession with Asian women.  That, coupled with other things, was a turnoff.  There's a difference between having an aesthetic preference for a certain look (a look that one ethnic group might have more off) as opposed to an obsession with a certain type that really reflects a view of women as merely objects of desire.
