That's why the morning during drop off time is planned to have free play, so a teacher can help each child who needs it to say goodbye and join other children.  Or if snack is over and then your child arrives and demands snack, that's difficult.

But if your child can come in at any point in the day, say goodbye and meld right into whatever is happening, fine!  It's just that most preschoolers really do better when they come in at the same time so they know the routine of the day - they can't tell they came in 2 hours late which is why snack and outdoor play is over, or whatever.
