First of all, when you post something like this anonymously, you want to leave out any irrelevant info, right? That's why I didn't mention that he was family or that he has kids. I also haven't mentioned the metro area he lives in or any details about his business. I only mentioned the details that were relevant to my question. I regret that I took the bait and ended up revealing a few more.

Go back and read my op. I really don't think I said "OMG, this guy I know is getting this totally new house and there's no way it's legit!!!" In fact, the very subject is asking IF it sounds suspicious. Because I really didn't know. I also don't think I have said anything about him that sounds bitter or resentful. I am not sitting here calling him names and saying that I hate the guy. I actually love him and his family very much. I did mention that he makes a lot of comments about taxes and such. But that's not my opinion - it's simply a fact. I only mentioned it because I thought it was relevant.
