Or, perhaps, ask him if upon the thousandth time having to hear such-and-such comment, do you get a free sandwich?

Actually, I think what I would do is write down a list of all his predictable, obnoxious comments (verbatim if he says them the same way every time) and during your visit simply pull it out to check off each one when he says them, and have a little chuckle. I call it Asshole Bingo.[/quote]
