LOL on the pearl post! Try the NY State Fair chicken marinade. I'm not sure if that can be purchased elsewhere (probably can?) but I grew up with Wegmans and grilled chicken marinated in that, and still love it. Wegmans brand hummus, turkey sausages - both very good. I also like their Toasted Oats cereal (crunchier than Cheerios, and the plain one is only 2g sugar, but the honey one tastes better :) ). If you like dark roast and flavored coffees, try their Toasted Almond Vanilla. It's all I buy these days.
WNYer here- there are a couple of marinades you can get at Wegman's that originate in Buffalo / Rochester / Syracuse. Buffalo's claim to fame is Chiavetta's marinade (best done on bone-in chicken with the skin). This is a very vinegary marinade. Central NYers like Salamida Spiedie Sauce (best on kabobs, lamb or chicken, yummy)-- that's the State Fair sauce. It is full of green herbs and is also quite vinegary. Both of those you can get in the general marinade / salad dressing aisle, but Spiedie sauce can also be purchased at Harris Teeter. I've also seen pasta sauce from a local Buffalo restaurant called Chef's. Imagine growing up with Wegman's as your idea of a "normal" grocery store. This has made every subsequent move for me very depressing (ever seen the A&P in New England? ACK!) I now know why friends' grandparents from Long Island always wanted to spend some of their Buffalo visits at Wegman's.
I still wish we had Lunds/Byerly's/Kowalski's here. Wegmans is fine, but it's just fine.
