OP, the bigger issue is not that you're considering a traditionally-boy-name for a girl--the concern is the reason why you're doing it.

Also consider how she's going to feel about her name when she finds out she was named after a guy because her parents owed a debt they couldn't pay, and how she'll feel when she's around Tom. Think about DD, not about Tom or paying him back. I have no idea who offered this alternative solution, but it seems a little selfish and arrogant, especially if it were Tom's idea.[/quote]
