If each of your children have their own room and bath at your X's, do you have to provide them with their own room and bath if you have 50% custody? I can find something easier and more affordable if they share, and I could even give htem the master so it is bigger. Plus, the apartment I am looking at has a pool, which my X doesn't.
Would you have them share a room is you had them 100% of the time? Kids shouldn't feel like second-class citizens just because their parents share custody.
No, amenities between divorced parents do not have to be equal when custody is shared. As others have said, there just has to be a safe place to sleep. Are your kids different sex? I would just make sure that there is a place where they can each change privately as they get older (bathroom, curtained off area, etc.) In many different socioeconomic levels and cultural backgrounds, kids of the same or different sex share bedrooms with or without divorced parents and whether 50% or 100% of the time. To the PP who said "kids shouldn't feel like second-class citizens...." It is inevitable that two parents supporting two households where they previously pooled income and supported one will have lesser living conditions. This isn't "second-class citizenship," it is a fact of economic life in divorced families. The standard of living often goes down even in the best of circumstances.
