OP, here. Yes, I have. I volunteer regularly and this would be a luxury to what I am seeing for our homeless.
Maybe instead of wasting your time whining about refugees like someone with no class or morals, you should buy a ping pong table off craigslist and donate it to the shelter you volunteer for.
Advocating for American homeless hardly constitutes having no class or morals. However, criticizing someone who volunteers his/her time to help those less fortunate is indeed classless and lacking in morals. You have no idea what OP does or doesn't donate besides his/her time. Look in the mirror and ask yourself if you are doing all that you can to help the homeless in America instead of criticizing someone else for their efforts.
Thank you OP, I'm sure you're very sweet and wonderful when you're not complaining about treating children humanely.
You really need to work on your reading comprehension. At no time have I said that illegal immigrant children--of any age--be treated inhumanely. I simply state, quite rightly, that homeless American citizens--yes, and many are children--are not receiving the same consideration, accommodations or concern. Compassion should not be reserved for those born outside of the US. We have US children who are hungry, homeless, living in dangerous situations and I am not seeing the same level of outrage, concern or compassion for these children. The hypocrisy is astounding.
So... wait... were you sock-puppeting and acting like someone else was defending you? Anyway, where is the hypocrisy exactly? Is everything a zero-sum game in your life? These children aren't living in luxurious accommodations, and neither are homeless children. There is no legal option to just turn the refugee children away... they must be detained somewhere, because they have a right to a hearing and will be sent back, the government made a choice to make the detention center less terrible. Do you get it yet? This is essentially a prison that looks slightly nicer. The situation of homeless children who are citizens is often a lot more complicated, and frequently involves situations of mental illness, drug use, parents who won't get their act together, etc. That doesn't mean you can't have compassion for both. Sheesh.
