Animals in the food chain, especially for human consumption, are tortured, abused and in pain. What we do to animals in this country alone is despicable; I can't let my mind wander to other countries - but I know because I've seen pictures and videos. Animals have emotions and feel pain, just as we do. They form relationships, feel happy, feel sad, and are aware. I can't be a part of the cruelty of factory farming. And I surely don't condone other countries barbaric treatment of it's animals -Japan and the slaughter of the dolphins (The Cove), China skinning dogs alive for their fur (that's a great video to watch for all you those hard skinned ppl - check out Utube), China and bears kept in flat cages for their bile (with tubes inserted in their stomachs), Canada and baby seal slaughter, and then in the US - puppy mills, veal crates, pig gestation crates, just to name a few.
Don't forget force feeding ducks/geese by permanently inserting a feeding tube down their throat so that their livers get overly fat and then serve it up as foie gras. So many countries have banned the production and import of foie gras. So has California. But the rest of the country is stupidly stuck with their heads in the sand.
