Your child should not struggle. You should not have to pay out of pocket for support. The kid is at an immersion school. Instead of doing phonics, spelling, and reading comprehension for two hours every school day in ENGLISH, the child is busy learning how to speak and read in a different language. Of course, some kids in immersion will be behind their peers attending English only schools in the lower grades. There are only so many hours in a school day. Kids who are successful in immersion schools eventually catch up and do better than their peers at English only schools by upper elementary schools. [/quote]
