Please, this is exactly what I said I didn't need to hear.  Obviously, not worried about squirming or if the plane crashes.  Planning in the event of serious turbulence.  Rare, but happens.  You can keep your opinions to yourself. I'm just asking for advice on WHAT to use, not whether to use anything at all.[/quote]

For your 5 year old, even you agree nothing is needed.

Go, buy the harness. But unless your kid is generally a fiddly kid  or incredibly tiny, you are wasting your money. In turbulence the goal is simply to stay attached to the seat. Which is what a seatbelt does. The harness just makes it harder for toddlers to get free of the seatbelt.

your opinion on that is based on nothing other than your supposition.  The FAA website says to do the harness.  Because it's easy for a littler kid to slip out of the seatbelt -- can't really make it tight enough for them.   I can't believe people will pick a fight about something even as uncontroversial as this.  I even said I respect people who don't want to use anything other than the seatbelt.  No judgment about that, because it is pretty rare for severe turbulence to happen.  Just wanted advice for what to use for those of us who do want to use something.  Gosh sakes.  I'm out.
