This is true.  My kids are ALWAYS out on the second day of Rosh Hashana.  Of course, we go to shul.  I would not keep them out just to let them stay home and do nothing (I know some parents who do this FWIW).  It has never been an issue for us with the school.[/quote]

Tickets are given to dues paying members.
 Services for RH and YK usually happen only 1 x per day.  Some shuls have 2 services on RH.  But there is limited seating so not everyone in the community can be accommodated.  If you pay to support the synagogue year round you get a seat.  Services are about 3.5 hrs long.  Unlike Christian services they are not held multiple times per day.[/quote]

College campus Hillels have been holding free services for all (not just college students) for at least twenty-five years.[/quote]
