You are missing the point.  Look up thread.  The position was that more $1.3 million houses would help fund the schools.  The problem is the $1.3 million dollar houses is that they tend to have school aged children that attend the public schools- so it would be more burdensome.

Yes 20% of the budget comes from the state- as a % that is actually low compared to the rest of Virginia- but don't look for that to increase.

Businesses also pay  taxes- yes they do and that is a good thing - are you suggesting that they pay more?

People with no children pay property taxes, yes they do, but there are % there are fewer of them in Fairfax than in other jurisdictions- like Arlington.  Fairfax has about 16.5% of its population in public schools, Arlington has about 10%.  That is a big difference to overcome.  That is one reason why Arlington can afford to spend much more per student and charge a lower tax rate than Fairfax.
