For Hearst that is only 6 OOB kids for pre-k 4. What a positive change for the school. I hope all the IB parents enroll. Hopefully next year will be 100% IB.
As a parent of one of those 6 OOB PK4 kids, I certainly hope that you are not representative of the Hearst community at large. I have actually heard that it is a great and welcoming group, but you sound exceedingly nasty. I wonder if my child, and by extension our whole family, will be "desirable" enough for you. We have a decent (but not huge) HHI, so I don't know if that will meet your standards. We live in an EOTP condo (but we own it, so maybe that is okay with you), and while I like to splurge at the neighborhood farmers market, I buy all of my kid's clothing from Target. I hope my kid doesn't somehow sully your special snowflake with all of our OOB baggage. Thanks for the kind welcome.
Hi - current Hearst K parent (and PK in 2015) here. PPs with incoming PK kids - please realize the snarky PP is NOT AT ALL representative of the broader community at Hearst. I would not be surprised if it's just a troll trying to stir up trouble. All the kiddos at Hearst are Owls and no one cares where they live. A number of OOB families have been choosing Hearst and supporting and helping to build the school for years which is terrific. The fact that more IB families recently have been choosing Hearst is a testament to the good work the principal, the teachers (a number of whom have been there 10+ years) and all families IB and OOB have been putting in. On top of that the number they quote is not entirely accurate. There were 6 PK 4 spots with "no preference" and another 8 with sibiling accepted preference (no IB preference) PLUS 3 proximity preference which means in the neighborhood but not IB. So of the 39 spots matched in PK-4 lottery 22 were IB and 17 were not. great mix. great school. and PP who shops at Target - we're right there with 'ya with a nice sprinkling of hand-me-downs from cousins and great yard sale finds too! and not that it matters but we are IB. Hearst welcomes all and I'm so sorry that someone chose to post a negative message about the school; it simply does not reflect Hearst's community at large.
Thank you! Despite my angry message to the troll, I couldn't be happier that my child got a spot at Hearst. It seems like a great school, and I know that we were really lucky to get a spot. Excuse the lottery pun, but I feel like we hit the jackpot. :)
