He can't read your mind. We talk about birthdays, NYE, Valentines and our anniversary in advance. We ask each other "How would you like to celebrate your birthday? Should we go out, do you want me to arrange a party with your friends?" We also discuss gifts - if we will exchange them - in advance. No disappointments because expectations are set. No cards ever - unless we are apart for some reason like a business trip.  [/quote]
