Here's another description of the Langley Leap from the recent Saxon Scope. Doesn't sound elitist in the least. http://www.saxonscope.com/news-2/2014/04/02/leaping-into-new-experiences/
LL sounds similar to the MUN organization, from the latest Saxon Scope written by children that GO to Langley, not their parents "Like with any toxic environment, any organization that arises in these halls is contaminated with hyper-competitive individuals who have the need to put other people down, in and out of their respective club ... Much more to our dismay, however, are the ones that collectively join together to bring people down to raise their own status within Langley's social pyramid." and "The reputation the club has gained is one of arrogance, where they mingle only with themselves and carry with them an aura of superiority. Peaceful discussions in class are often interrupted with the interjecting and rather elitist voice of a MUN-er." Then you flip to next page and there is an essay about how one girl has taken 16 AP courses. These are the type of "leaders" at this school. The bottom feeders get stomped on so others can feel better. So many of the children that our family knows has been stomped on at langley while these parents keep gushing about how nice it is. I have lots of friends with kids at Herndon and they love the school. I know a lot of children at Langley and most of them can't wait to get the hell out of there. The LL and MUN and Case Day are just another way for Langley admins to segregate and promote the top AP and Athletic students. and before, all the stereotypical Great Falls moms, the type of woman who dedicates most of her married life to engineering her children for success solely in the northern virginia bubble, post that their child LOVES langley and this is not really segregation, that the bottom feeders just don't have the grades and deserve to be left out, and how dare you criticize Langley, please take a moment and just read the current Saxon Scope and reflect on what 87% of your kids think.
