I posted earlier too and I, too, can't believe how much I am analyzing this. I know that Robin can't have biological kids and they did that fake-out with the flash forward in Argentina where they were in the wrong room. But their dialogue about going to get the crying baby led me to believe that although that wasn't their baby, perhaps they really did have their own daughter at home. Maybe they adopted a baby.  I don't know if the mother is dying or Robin but I just don't think it is going to end on a happy note. [/quote]

There was an ep where the narrator (ted) says something like, "Robin never did go on to have kids..."[/quote]
