Nope, I am a nurse. I get the same pay as you, work year round, holidays and weekends and nights.  I deal with vomit, urine, feces, blood, know-it all-doctors and overwhelmed families on a daily basis. I have gotten kicked in the chest and knocked unconscious so a drug addict could leave with his IV intact. I have had psych patients bite and spit on me. One slip up in medication or an IV and I could kill someone.  A teacher would be a walk in the park. Don't hold your job so high and mighty. [/quote]

For real.  And what about firemen, police officers, men in the armed forces.  There are other jobs out there that have the same pay and are just as hard or harder than a teacher.  I don't think your job is easy but you work 8-10hrs a day like every other person I know on salary.  MCPS pays pretty well and sorry but you do get a lot of time off and can make a supplemental income in the summer tutoring or doing camps.  There should not be a case of burn-out but it seems like every teacher seems burned out and is constantly complaining instead of enjoying teaching anymore.  And it trickles down to the kids.
