I have been slightly underweight since having my second child. With both kids I lost a lot of weight breastfeeding, and with the first went about 5 pounds below my pre-baby weight. I gained it back and got back to normal, healthy weight after weaning. With my second, my BMI is hovering at just below healthy weight and I weaned over a year ago. Have had thyroid checked etc., all is normal. Dr. said babies just may have changed my metabolism. FWIW my mom was always super tiny and then her metabolism slowed at 40 so I expect the same. She is still not overweight but has to watch what she eats much more carefully now and is always trying to lose 5 pounds.
OP here. My mom was always really tiny and ended up getting thinner with each child. I didn't even think to ask her if this happened when she weaned. I suspect pregnancy may have changed my body composition. I have always been thin, but pre-pregnancy my body fat was usually in the 17-20% range so this is a big change. Even my face looks different.
