With a very few exceptions, parents in Ward 3 do now and have always paid for preschool and daycare -> preschool for their 2 and 3 year olds. With a few exceptions, we can afford to do this. Yes, we can, don't assert that because there's a few single moms in a few inexpensive rental buildings along Connecticut and Wisconsin that MOST of us parents pay for preschool near our homes. A few do it in conjunction with our jobs downtown at Bright Horizons, JCC and so forth.
You are exactly the type of resident this corrupt government loves, guilty with deep pockets. Wake up. Daycare costs for a 3 year old in Ward 3 is $20,000/year. You are comfortable paying this just because you can afford to, while EVERY other Ward does not have to? Wow.
I think you AND OP are missing the point. PK3 is a lottery for everyone. No one is guaranteed a spot so there is no discrimination. Furthermore many Ward 3 parents would shudder at the thought of sending their kids to the schools we have in wards 4-8. It sounds like what OP wants is to have the option for pk3 at their top WOTP school. Isn't it enough that you get the top schools for the other 14 years?
