NP We have a gas stove. If power goes out, can I light the burner with a regular lighter or match, or do I need one of those long camping lighters (which I don't have)? Dumb question, but I never had to do that before and I don't feel like burning myself or blowing up the house.

A regular match might be too close for comfort, but perhaps if you hold it with tweezers or something. I use something like this - easily available at most drug stores, grocery stores, target, hardware stores, etc for like $3. Available everywhere and worth having in the house.

Your stove lights from a pilot light not electric ignition, so you shouldn't need a match.

We KNOW!  But the gas will still come out. That's why you use a match or lighter to ignite it. This is what is posted above. [b][/quote]
