[/quote] When I was in high school I read about a lot of failed guillotine executions. If the executor didn't sharpen the blade properly or he failed to grease the contraption properly you could end up with a partially decapitated mess. Or worse someone with a huge gash screaming and bleeding to death. That is why they had a back up executioner with an ax. It also helped if you had a lot of money to bribe the executioner with, so he would sharpen the blade.[/quote]
