We took down all the walls except the one separating the kitchen from the living room. So open kitchen to dining room, open dining room to living room, but that's it. The complete lack of privacy, the inability to 'hide' in the kitchen and just cook without the background noise/people and the fact that I could otherwise see the messy dishes from any point in out house was enough for us to keep that one wall n place.
