OP,  you can choose other items too.  I bring popsicles in because my daughter's b-day is Sept 5th.  They go outside the last 10min to eat them and sing happy birthday.  I also have brought in brownie bites because they are nut and dairy-free. I have seen rice krispie treats, muffins or donuts in the morning, and even ice cream served at lunch.

Lots of options besides cupcakes.  But for holiday parties, room parents usually do Giant cupcakes so they are okay for birthdays too.  [/quote]
