First of all, you're wrong.  I don't hate my IL's.  My husband's parents are lovely people.

I dislike my BIL, and since he lives there, it makes the trip to visit with family miserable.

I will try to get them to take us more places this year, honestly, but we don't rent a car and are stuck going wherever they decide to take us out.  But I will also say it is hard to convince everyone to leave the house because they are mostly homebodies and I get a lot of guilt for wanting to leave the house and explore rather than sit around staring at each other and watching the kids play.

I did attempt to convince my husband to get us a hotel room this year, but he refused and got snippy with me and told me not to even bother coming.  Which would of course make me look like a total bitch and he'd never forgive me if I actually took him up on his "offer."

We might get to drive 6 hours to west texas to visit his uncle who is dying from cancer, so there is that.  Actually, that is one of the reasons I felt like we HAD to go this year, because it is probably our last chance to see his uncle.[/quote]
