Btw, although many Ward 3 kids end up somewhere besides DCPS, more than 1/2 the kids in DC attend charters, so a lot of those ward 3 kids are not at privates.
Nah. Why would Ward 3 kid drive across town to attend a charter when their neighborhood school that they can walk to is perfectly fine and lots of people move to Ward 3 just for the public schools there. The 1/2 kids who attend charters are from Ward 5 and the like. I live in Ward 5 and don't know a single family that sends their kid to their inbound DCPS. They either drive to a WoP DCPS or charter or private.
We are friends with an AU Park family that pulled their daughters from Janney and sent them to Basis.
You are lying. There were no twins pulled from Janney and sent to Basis for 5th grade.
Maybe they just were "pulled" tas in did not start - the fifth grade. Mann parent here who whose kids are at and will go to Basis. We had a set of twin girls who started Basis last year, and there were at least ten Mann kids who were in their cohort. Don't know about the Mann numbers at Basis for fifth this year, but I imagine they are growing. We also pulled a child out of Latin to go to Basis when it opened, and do know a few families whose kids are still there and happy. The days of all those at Mann and Janney going private in 4th or 6th are over, and I imagine our kids will give the ones applying from shi shi private school a real run for their money when it comes time for colleges to pick and choose.
