Hmmm we are a family that loves hunting and many of the shelters in this area seem to be happy to take what we shoot...we go to a DC school and our kids are doing great. The thing I notice is that anyone who is going on and on about any sort of politics is not very well liked. Classy people send their kids to school for education and leave politics for more private discussions.
My DH and son are also hunters. We go to a DC private (listed on this thread) and seem to fit in just fine.
Just because people are not expressing their views directly to you does not mean they are not feeling that way or discussing them with others. To answer OP, while NWDC do have some conservatives, generally they are mostly more liberal and democratic schools. Based on vies I have heard expressed at our Big 3, most people are not thrilled about guns and especially with families that allow their children to use guns/hunt.
I don't care how you are feeling or discussing with your small minded group. I do care that my kids are treated with kindness and respect as I treat all kids with kindness and respect. I have been a parent for quite some time and I have never gotten into political discussions around playmates or even fellow parents. I even steer clear with my kids..they can figure out what they think when the times come. My husband and I keep our thoughts on all sensitive matters private. I just listen to some of this nasty stuff on DCUM and while I realize this site attracts some of the elitist lefties and hopefully doesn't reflect all parents (Dems included), I marvel at the same people who go ballistic on things like saving some obscure animal would be nasty to a kid or a parent just because they have a political difference and they aspire to have schools filled with lefties because they are so intolerant of other opinions. Scary but true. Personally I like diversity of thought and I am not afraid to have my kids around it.
