I admittedly had two very easy deliveries and recoveries, and am now expecting #3, but in my opinion and experience, the final few weeks of pregnancy suck way way more than caring for a newborn. Way more. I really didn't think the first few months were that difficult. I am not trying to brag and I do think I had it pretty easy (nursing wasn't a big deal and my babies didn't have colic or anything like that) but I just wanted to offer another perspective from "it will be totally miserable." The hardest part for me the first time was the life adjustment -- getting used to the fact that we couldn't leave the house on our own and had another life to think about and things were just going to be harder and more complicated going forward. Things that helped me - I coslept with both babies in the beginning, using a Snuggle Nest in the bed. It made nursing much easier and was way less taxing than physically getting out of bed every time the baby needed to eat. I forced myself to get out from the beginning -- figured out which carrier my babies liked best and became really comfortable with it. I made sure I got some time to myself and my husband was really good about accommodating me. Good luck! You will survive and in a few months (years) it will seem like just a very minor blip in your life.
