English major here - I have risen to management in a financial field because I can write fairly well, am conscience about deadlines and can talk to clients without pissing them off. Most of the people under me can do the required math, but can't convey it well in a report, even with a pretty detailed format from which to start.
Smoke and mirrors you'll be caught soon
I have 2 kids, both math majors at a highly-selective school, so they have plenty of options, but they will still say that writing is absolutely critical. They take every opportunity to seek out courses outside the math department that require extensive writing and professors who are known to be dedicated to improving their students' writing (i.e., the tough graders in the English department).
