I gues you've never lived in Europe. They don't have a lot of rest stops in some places. They just have an exit off the autobahn and everyone goes toward the tree line. Number 2 as well.  We joked that the world is your toilet in Germany. [/quote]

While I don't think Germans would worry about little boys peeing against trees, it is not true that they don't have enough rest stops. In fact, there is an abundance of rest stops along the Autobahn, many more than along US highways where you cannot rely on finding gas stations at regular intervals. Over here you also often have to drive quite a bit off the highway to get to gas stations and restaurants, instead of having a proper rest stop right next to the road. In Germany, I have never had to use the woods when traveling on the Autobahn.[/quote]

In the two years I lived there, I never "had" to as well. However, I certainly witnessed it on a regular basis. I lived in Bavaria, so maybe those who live in the Northern sections don't.  And they don't always have rest stops, not in the country anyway. [/quote]
