I have never heard of any child not getting into St. Johns. Very average students seem to thrive there.
It used to be that way even just a few years ago but the school has really done an amazing job "re-branding" themselves. They are really moving to shake the "safety school" image that they were saddled with as they tried to build enrollment after switching from all-boys military to co-ed. Each year they chip away a little more. If you are holding opinions from even 5 years ago, it's time to take another look at what is happening over there. However in my opinion one of their greatest strengths is still that average kids thrive there. Although I'm not sure where these average kids come from since everyone in the area seems to be top-of-the-class, Ivy-bound from what I read here. And no, I do not have a child there. I was just very impressed by what I saw even though my daughter ultimately chose something else.
