I'm a pp who talked about holiday office parties. One annoying thing: because there was a big industry shakeup when I got pregnant, I told my boss super early, like 8 weeks, because I knew that he would have to plan in advance for what we'd do when I was gone and maybe even do some hiring to fill a role I was performing. He appreciated it, but damn, he could NOT keep a secret. We were at a black tie event, I was about 9 weeks along, and when the server poured wine into my glass I didn't stop him. My boss leans across the table and was like "wait, she can't have that!" I was actually really mad. Not that I was drinking (it was an aversion) but obviously plenty of OBs tell their patients that a half glass or so is fine. Second, it's really none of his business. Third, to say that in front of everyone! I was basically outed in front of distant colleagues from other organizations, and word spread. So fortunately I did not have a miscarriage. This time, i had to tell him because I threw up in the office, and I was so pissed about it. I told him in no uncertain terms that I was still pissed off from last time, so to keep his mouth shut this time! Anyway, what made me think of this is that I remember seeing a friend drinking like a fish at her birthday and she announced she was pregnant a few weeks later. I was like damn girl, okay hope that little baby is not born with fins! But she ended up telling me that she was just passing the drinks to her husband and pretending. So, be careful you don't put on TOO good a show! Or people will talk! :)
