Make sure to tell her about your extra frosties!!!!! Would love to hear her response. Also if you are someone who doesn't want a relationship with your donor, she thinks you are an awful person. I say to each his own.
She did go off on that too--her son was born before there were known donors. I would have preferred someone who wanted to be known but I had to be realistic given my financial limitations, which meant I needed an in-house donor, and that I wanted a specific ethnicity. People assuming one-size-fits-all for something as personal and complex as infertility make me wonder what planet they're living on. Especially someone like her who's been through it. Oh well, all I can say is I'm glad that while initially she led me to explore other options, I didn't end up taking her opinion very seriously. Unless she wanted to pay my agency fees and it was HER time being wasted waiting to fit the donor's schedule. . . .when I weighed everything, I wanted a baby, of my ethnicity, and I wanted to try it as soon as possible. SG came through, my next choice was frozen with RBA. I wrote off the agencies, because they charge 5 figures NOT INCLUDING the donor fee and NOT INCLUDING your own clinic's testing and of course not the cycle fees, wrote off ORM because the guarantee program was too expensive, and decided against SDFC (her other favorite) because they require transfer of 2 embryos for the guarantee, and I don't want twins, which are a 40% chance in or so in a donor egg cycle (if the embryo splits so be it).
