Why put all the time and effort into swimming if you don’t want the feedback needed to improve? IME of many years doing S&T, the parents have a much harder time with it than the kids. I genuinely enjoy officiating. It’s a (mostly) great community of parents who care about helping kids. You get to learn something, it passes the time, and it’s necessary for the meets to happen.
