Trump is a godawful scumbag, corrupt, delusional demented authoritarian, and i DO NOT want him to take the city over. But JLG and others in this city are being idiots with their heads up their asses. We DO need to get this city's juvenile lawlessness problem under control. The more these Chipotle brawl things happen, the more ammunition we give to Trump. KNOCK IT OFF. GET IT UNDER CONTROL. It is clear to me that Janeese is not going to do that. McDuffie sounds stronger than Janeese on dealing with it, but even he sounds like he's talking that talk just to keep Trump's threats at bay, rather than doing it because we actually need to do it. Goodweather may be the other option. I think we need to improve MPD staffing and send the National Guard back to their homes, we need to get MPD invested in the community (hire more cops from inside the city or have programs to help cops live in DC), I think we need more accountability from teens and from their parents and guardians - I'm not saying throw them in juvie or ruin their lives, but at the very least mandate community service and mandatory summer academy to get them better life skills and so on. For the people who say "there's not enough for kids to do" I say bullshit because DC has more for kids than most other places in this country, but if you want more, fine, the resourcing for that can be supplemented with that mandatory community service. Have the kids who get in trouble help DPR, have them help set up events and provide logistics, and so on - along with having them help the BIDs with litter cleanup, graffiti removal and so on. Have them help coaches. Lots of things they can be put to work doing that will also make them more invested in their neighborhood and community rather than treating their neighborhood and community like garbage they way they currently do.
