The evil Trump administration just announced rules that will gut Medicaid eligibility for the cognitively impaired, as well as many cancer patients. All the Trump apologists on this board can STUFF IT. The just-released rules say that if you can get in and out of a chair, use the toilet and take a bath on your own, you need to work 80 hours a month or no health care for you. This totally ignores that fact that that the cognitively impaired don't typically drive and there's few transportation options. And that fact that cancer patients going through treatment are sick as dogs a lot of the time won't be able to work. Oh, and the fact that NOBODY HIRES THE SICK AND COGNTIVELY IMPAIRED! And don't tell me it's not happening. The links are below. https://www.cbpp.org/research/health/administrations-last-minute-restrictions-likely-to-worsen-impact-of-medicaid-work https://www.disabilityscoop.com/2026/06/03/medicaid-changes-will-push-people-with-disabilities-off-program-advocates-warn/32025/ "The 387-page rule published Wednesday indicates that individuals with physical, intellectual or developmental disabilities will be considered “medically frail” only if their condition “significantly impairs” their ability to perform at least one activity of daily living, or ADL, which includes bathing, dressing, walking, toileting, eating or getting in and out of bed or a chair. “An individual with such a disability that does not significantly impair their ability to perform one or more ADLs would not qualify for this exclusion,” the rule states. Other categories that can qualify as “medically frail” include people who are “blind or disabled,” individuals with substance use disorder, a “disabling mental disorder” or a serious or complex medical condition. To be considered “disabled,” a person would have to be “unable to engage in any substantial gainful activity by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or which has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than twelve months.” So you Trumpers can STFU about it only being "fraud" they are trying to get rid of. They are trying to kill the sick and disabled.
That sounds like an incredibly easy bar to pass if you are actually handicapped or impaired. Only 1 of those? Wtf was it before that clause? Jsut find a nurse or doc to sign something and split the welfare proceeds?
You know absolutely nothing, absolutely nothing on how this works because you live a life sheltered from any one who is developmentally disabled, medically fragile, etc. My parents would have been BEYOND thrilled if someone would have hired their DC with a developmental disability for 80 hours month - but that doesn't happen regardless of how many feel good reels run on social media. And Medicaid doesn't pay a "proceed" - it helps the individual receive health care, often for what are very complex conditions. The fraud in Medicaid is perpetrated by insurers and providers.
Exactly. Everyone deserves 80 hr a week free taxpayer bodies caretaking. Like in all the other countries that do that! Wish I set up one of those Medicaid autism clinics the last five years making $$$ millions with huge margins, unskilled labor friends and cockamamie egregious billing.
These rules don't close those loopholes though. In fact, in invites way more fraud as people set up scams to prove "volunteer hours."
