I don’t think it’s about who “lobbied” although certainly teachers have represented a dire need for early release/more workdays which add to the bad schedule.

The question is, who can contribute to the solution. Teachers can contribute by advocating to move workday to the beginning and end of the year, and recognizing the early release has been a bad policy. There’s no having your cake and eating it too if you don’t want to start in the middle of August and end at the end of June, you’re going to have to put some skin in the game and work to improve things as well.[/quote]

Teacher here. You can’t have all of the TWD be at beginning/end of the year. We need the time to grade/plan during the year. That being said, we have too many days off. I am pretty sure if you put a bunch of actual educators in a room they could create a much better calendar. [/quote]

You can get TWD days on other holidays then— what you cannot have is eleven teacher workdays, monthly early release, and all the other holidays, there is simply not enough time in the calendar.[/quote]
