North Bethesda, 30 min drive to Tysons, 1 hr to drive home.
You do you. I agree it is painful. I would move before I commuted across a bridge twice a day. Oh, and Maryland is unlikely either to widen 495 between the bridge and 270 split (270 already was widened) or to widen / replace the 495 bridge. Maryland owns the bridge. Virginia already has done all that it could.
that is not true. In NY/NJ the port authority splits costs of bridge and tunnels between NY and NJ regardless who owns most of water under bridge as it is assumed both states will be using bridge. The American Legion Bridge is toll free bridge. If rebuilding was maybe 40/40 VA and MD kick in and then get 20 percent funding from Feds it could be done. I don't see why MD is paying 100 percent for bridge. I do cross bridge three times a week and it is equally crowded in both directions in evening rush hour. I doubt the folks in Maryland want a big tax hike so VA drivers can use bridge for free, but in VA there are tolls everywhere for MD drivers.
