How is the social scene in UMD for NOVA students? Is it harder because kids go home for weekends?
? most kids don't go home for the weekend. We live 40min away, and we hardly see DC. Same for their friends. OP, if it makes you feel any better, my super high stats kid was actually rejected at the T10s and ended up at UMD. Dual STEM major. But, they are super happy there. They are having the time of their life, and they have some really amazing internships in their field. As you know UMD is a R1 school, and it's great for research in many areas. Harvey Mudd is an excellent school. A friend of mine went there. But, it's pricey and tiny (I visited my friend a few times). It's very different from UMD, though the weather in CA is much better than the weather around here. As a PP stated, the reputation of UMD has gone up in the past many years, and there are a lot of high stats kids who get rejected.
