Not so fast on this one. They are trying to put one of the bus depots in the middle of a densely populated residential area. The land was designated for a school not a bus depot. In addition to the fact that they want to put it smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood, there are significant environmental issues specific to that site that they would have to be addressed first. It's also zoned R-200 which is residential.
Neither location is "densely populated." And residential areas are served by school buses. It makes sense to locate buses closer to where they're going to be used.
There are more than 1300 residence in the immediate area. On top of that, the homes closest to the supposed bus depot are town homes which include HOC units. That means that those people will be most affected by a pollution spewing, loud bus depot. There are no bus depots in the county currently located within residential communities. If they have a spot on East Gude Drive that would make the most sense since that area is primarily industrial.
The one in Bethesda is.
