I actually think the success of Woodward depends less on the WJ kids moving there but on whether or not parents rezoned to Woodward from the DCC who currently send their kids to private schools will start sending their kids to Woodward or not. The FARMS rate could be lower than what MCPS projected it to be if more parents from that area use Woodward instead of private school.
Parents will choose private regardless and the DCC commute will be a nightmare. Lots of Northwood kids transferred to other DCC schools because of it.
Is there any official statistics on the above two points: A - The percentage of students zoned for WW and VM that currently attend private schools B - Drop in Northwood enrollment during the years its students go to Woodward
I believe MCPS has some stats/info on “capture rate” - how many kids living in an area go to MCPS schools - but they don’t talk about it much or make it public like ever. The Northwood info probably exists but in the context of the DCC choice process, which is different in a host of logistical details than the new regional program model
