OP here-- our industry is very heavy on adobe. There is zero chance she does not know how to use adobe or have no access to adobe PRO. (I will admit the responses here have been illuminating). She is a naturalized US citizen, C suite with stock options and on nonfortune 500 boards. I don't understand the request and felt iffy to ask why so i just pretended I dont have the word file anymore and didnt want her to be busied. I just dont think the trust is there and I dont want her gunning for me. I realize I am a nobody... but it's a small industry. I wish I could tell you my industry and you'll see why it's so laughable to ask for a word file.
I still don't get your logic. If you assumed she had access to adobe pro to edit the resume, then you already sent it to her knowing that she would have the ability to edit it, and therefore steal it. And even if you sent it to her in hard copy or some uneditable format, she could always just re-type the portions she wanted to steal. Her having access to your resume and therefore the ability to copy it was implicit in you giving her a copy to review. I don't understand why her wanting the word document made you suddenly suspicious.
