IMO, If the kids are obviously ready for AAP (98% NNAT AND 95% CoGAT, 14 or better GBRS, nice work sample the teacher can easily identify), or obviously not ready (either NNAT nor CoGAT made the cut, 10 or less GBRS, not much good work sample to choose from), the parent's input will weight minimal on the final decision. As for as the kids that close to the threshold, if the parents can provide additional material outside the score/GBRS/sample, it might help.
How do we know if the kids is "14 or better GBRS" or "10 or less GBRS" if this is completed by AART?
You won't until 1) the kid is in the pool 2) the screen file been submitted to the committee 3) you make an appointment with the AART teacher to find out The post is try to help the parents on what to put on the parent referral/questionnaire. If your precious has to be in AAP no matter what, follow these steps: 1) no matter you got the pool letter or not, start working on the parent referral/parent questionnaire, provide additional material beyond what the teacher normally will provide (but seems they don't care much about sports/music) 2) if got the pool letter, then just submit the parent questionnaire. Otherwise submit both. 3) if found ineligible, get a WISC and appeal 4) still ineligible, start prep the kid, and try again 3rd grade 5) still ineligible, get another WISC and appeal 6) still ineligible, prep more, and try again 4th grade so on and so on, until the kid in AAP, or until 8th grade
Thanks a lot. If I got the pool letter, is it still helpful providing additional material? What kind of material would be helpful? - I have no idea. camp certipicate? - isn't it something you can get if you paid for? what kind of camp? award? - what kind could be award is possibly serious for a 2nd grade?
