DC is off meds for the first time in 8 years because he is obsessed with becoming a pilot and wants to be off meds for 4 years before applying for FAA medical. It’s a struggle, but it’s do-able because it’s his choice and his dream (and you don’t need MIT level course work and grades to get into an aviation program).
