DP. These all sound like reasonable subjective reasons to move, but don’t move because you think crime will be less in Tennessee.

Tennessee vs. Virginia Crime Rates (2024 FBI/State Data, per 100,000 residents)

- Murder/Homicide Rate  
  Tennessee: ~8–10 (high, driven by cities like Memphis at ~40.6)  
  Virginia: ~4.8 (declined from prior years)

- Violent Crime Rate (murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault)  
  Tennessee: 592 (top 5 nationally)  
  Virginia: ~190–234 (well below national average; ~7% drop from 2023)

- Property Crime Rate (burglary, larceny, vehicle theft)  
  Tennessee: ~2,032 (elevated, esp. in urban areas)  
  Virginia: Lower (national avg. ~1,760; VA consistently safer)
