I feel so grateful I had both genders- girl, boy, girl. I’m sure I would have had up to 5 to have a girl. 3 was what we wanted though. Stupid, but I don’t think my life would have been complete without a girl. I just had so much I wanted to share with my daughters! That being said, I love my son a lot too. I’m glad I didn’t only have girls because I find women who only had girls to be out of touch.
Can you elaborate on this? Because my mom only had girls, I only have boys, and I feel like a lot of her endless criticism of my parenting stems from this.
This is so real. My mom had ADD girls. I have ADHD boys. It’s not the same assignment.
Right?!? My mom had me (well behaved girl) and my older brother (responsible, controlled, and driven for basically his entire life- never took a wrong step). I know it wasn’t her parenting because I disliked her , and it was obvious she favored my brother. I have two boys who are high energy but also high in love and affection and have many varying interests- pretty normal 7 and 9 year old boys across the board honestly. They do not stand out in terms of being “high energy” when compared to their peers. But if you ask my mother, I’m raising two out of control insane boys. What’s funny is she doesn’t criticize me for their behavior- she says things like “I can see they’re just inpossibke for you to control, you try your best but what can you do!” and it almost hurts more, because she’s like “yeah you definitely can’t handle this no matter what”. My kids are fine?? I’m fine?? Anyways this has nothing to do with the OP, I’m realizing. Cue the “maam this is a Wendy’s” response!
