Were any mental health supports provided to the students at JW who stood a rock toss away from half a dozen officers drawing guns and yanking a suspect out of their vehicle? On the video floating around you can hear the kids worried that it's ICE about to kill someone. I'd go as far as to say what the JW kids SAW is more traumatic than anything to Wootton students witnessed.
Is this a weird joke? It's more traumatizing to simply watch the news.
It's weird you don't understand how that incident could be upsetting to anyone - let alone 11-13 year olds. Seeing things in person is more intense than watching it on TV.
Wow. Your kids have led awfully sheltered lives if that would be a traumatic event for them.
Walking outside your school to see a bunch of officers with guns drawn, arresting somebody in front of your school who just shot a kid at a school a couple miles away while they also detain two others, handcuffed outside their vehicles, is absolutely going to be traumatic. My child's first questions were about the danger of that uncontrolled situation as it unfolded with the kids coming out of the school to walk home.
DP I pretty sure it's not the first time nor would it be the last time kids see folks getting arrested in front of their schools.
