The rate was 1 in 1000 back in 1960. You guys really should update your numbers now and then, because a lots happened in the last 65 years. We don't have pockets of malnourished children like we did then, so the disease ends up being pretty mild. [/quote]

You're absolutely wrong. The mortality rate is the same as it was in 1960.

There were 2,144 cases in the US last year, the highest since 1991. Two children died, as did one adult.
