Ha! I was just wondering this about the prepared foods section at Whole Foods as I stood there waiting for my deli meat to be sliced today. It's A LOT of food. Do they sell that much?
I went to a Harris Teeter once when they were closing up the prepared foods/salad bar. There was a ton of food there. An employee lined a shopping cart with a heavy duty garbage bag and methodically dumped every bin out.
They use their unsellable and unusable food for energy through Divert, Inc. So that’s where it went because it wasn’t useable (no one could pick it up and deliver it to a shelter, the shelter had no needs that day, the food was on it’s last use by date, etc)
